Wells Fargo® College Visa Card Review

The Wells Fargo® College Visa Card allows you to shop online, buy your books, pay your bills, or even be prepared for emergencies. This card works with a college student’s budget, offering low introductory rates and no annual fee. Once you receive your new credit card, you can customize the design using the Wells Fargo Card Design Studio® service. You can add snapshots of family and pets to photos of a favorite hobby. Wells Fargo gives members a “Tip of the Month” in your monthly statement and a quarterly credit education newsletter. You can also visit the Wells Fargo Credit Tips to learn about money management, credit cards and credit in general. Here are some of the card features:

  • No Annual Fee
  • Low Introductory Rate for 6 months
  • Used everywhere Visa debit is accepted
  • Build good credit history while in school

Rates and Offers
The card offers a special introductory rate of 5.9% for the first 6 months on purchases and balance transfers. After six months the rate will be as low as 13.15% up to 20.15% based on your creditworthiness. The introductory APR does not apply to cash advances. A balance transfer fee up to 5% for each balance transfer, with a minimum of $5, will apply. Generally, they will apply your minimum payment first to lower APR balances (such as Purchases) before balances with higher APRs (such as Cash Advances). Payments made in excess of the minimum payment will generally be applied to balances with higher APRs first before balances with lower ones.

Eligibility
In order to be eligible for this card you must be a U.S. resident, age 18 or older, a student enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or trade school and meet other credit qualifications. Applicants under the age of 21 must be able to demonstrate the ability to individually repay their debt. Applicants who do not meet this criterion will be required to obtain a co-applicant who is 21 or older with an ability to repay the debt. If your income is over $12,000 a year, the no-annual-fee Wells Fargo Platinum Card is a more appropriate card for you.
