Your balance information will be sent to you either daily, weekly, or monthly, which ever you choose. The service is free to all cardmembers, all you have to do is sign up. The text message alert is compatible with the following carriers: AT&T Wireless, Cingular Wireless, Nextel, Qwest Wireless, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Virgin Mobile.
Online Bill Pay
One great feature about this card is that it offers an online bill pay service. This is one reason why this card might be a good alternative to having a traditional bank account. As a member you can use the online bill pay service free of charge. You can make payments for things like your utilities, car payment, rent, cable and more. Your payment will be electronically sent to the company of your choice and if they don’t accept electronic payments then a paper check will be sent on your behalf. A paper check would be ideal for a payment to a landlord or even for a gift.

Carlotta, while it’s possible that somebody else could have signed you up,it’s unlikely. Since NetSpend is a prepaid card, if you didn’t request it, just don’t use it.
